Can you rent a private residence in Paris for Fashion Week or Roland-Garros?

Yes, in four lawful ways: a hotel or palace; a serviced apartment or tourist residence run by an operator; a Parisian's own main home, which may be let up to 90 nights a year under a registration number; or an apartment that holds a change-of-use authorisation. A second home or pied-à-terre let for ten days without that authorisation is unlawful, and the stay can be cancelled.

When are Paris Fashion Week and Roland-Garros in 2026 and 2027?

Paris Fashion Week Womenswear runs from 28 September to 6 October 2026, then from 1 to 9 March 2027. Menswear is 19 to 24 January and 22 to 27 June 2027; Haute Couture is 25 to 28 January and 5 to 8 July 2027. Roland-Garros 2027 runs from 17 May to 6 June, with the main draw from 23 May.

Add the art fairs of October and the year-end holidays, and the best residences in Paris are spoken for about twelve weeks a year. For those weeks, the search starts months ahead.

Which rentals are lawful for a week or two?

Four. A hotel. A serviced apartment or tourist residence run by an operator with the right status. A Parisian's main home, let for at most 90 nights a year with a City of Paris registration number on the listing. An apartment holding a change-of-use authorisation. Everything else, however beautiful, exposes the owner to fines of up to €100,000 and the guest to a cancelled stay.

Two consequences for a visitor. First, the most sought-after residences for these weeks are often real homes: Parisians who leave town during Fashion Week or the tournament and let their own apartment within their 90 nights. That is lawful, and it is why a registration number is the first thing to ask for. Second, a lease dressed up as something else does not change the law: a furnished home let for ten days to a visitor who does not live there is a tourist let, whatever the contract is called.

The one-to-ten-month bail mobilité is a different tool. It is reserved for a person on a work assignment, in training or studying, with proof, and it cannot be shorter than a month (service-public.gouv.fr). What is specific to Fashion Week?

Three needs at once: a place to sleep, a place to work and a place to receive. Houses, buyers and talent look for apartments near the shows and showrooms, in the Golden Triangle, around the Tuileries and in the Marais. Using an apartment as a showroom or for a dinner is a separate question from sleeping in it, and needs the owner's consent.

• The calendar is official and public. The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode publishes the dates and the list of houses. Shows are professional events, by invitation of each house: a seat is not something an intermediary can sell.
• Day use is not night use. A showroom, a fitting, a press day or a dinner in an apartment is governed by the owner's consent and the rules of the building, not by the tourist-letting rules. See private events in Paris.
• Staff and security. Drivers at your disposal, a chef, housekeeping twice a day, and close protection for public figures, which in France must be provided by a company authorised by the national regulator.

What is specific to Roland-Garros?

Roland-Garros 2027 runs from 17 May to 6 June at Porte d'Auteuil, in the 16th arrondissement. Tickets, hospitality and travel packages are sold only through the tournament's official channels. On 18 September 2026 the tournament stated that individual tickets for 2027 were not yet on sale, and that any offer seen before the official opening could only be fraudulent.

For accommodation, the stadium is on the western edge of Paris: the 16th arrondissement (Auteuil, Passy, Trocadéro) and neighbouring Boulogne are the natural base, a short drive from the Champs-Élysées. Players' families and guests of the tournament often prefer an apartment for the fortnight: quiet, a kitchen, room for a coach or a physio. We help with the residence and the services around it. What does it cost?

There is no official price list. As an indication, one Paris concierge firm publishes these ranges for Fashion Week: €30,000 to €150,000 and more a week for a private apartment or mansion, €2,000 to €25,000 and more a night for a palace suite, €900 to €1,800 a day for a dedicated chauffeur and €1,500 to €3,500 a day for close protection.

What to ask before you pay a deposit

• The City of Paris registration number, or the operator's status. No number, no deposit.
• For a main residence: confirmation that the stay fits within the owner's 90 nights for the year.
• Written consent for anything beyond sleeping: showroom, fittings, shoot, dinner, reception.
• Exact dates including set-up days, check-in and check-out times, and late departure after a final or a show.
• Air conditioning (late May, June and late September can be hot), lift, parking or a place for the car to wait.
• Housekeeping, linen changes, and who answers the phone at midnight.
• Cancellation terms if a show moves or a player goes out in the first round.

Can a fashion house use a rented apartment as a showroom?

Only with the owner's written consent and within the rules of the building. Most residential and serviced-apartment contracts forbid commercial use and events. It is a separate agreement from the stay itself.
